What happens in case of bad weather?
Outdoor activities are always affected by weather conditions. Last-minute cancellations are possible. Cancellations by our organization always entitle you to a full refund of the deposit. To know the policy about bad weather visit the "Assistance" page, "Reservations" section.
Can I reach the excursion location by public transport?
It is not recommended to book unless you have your own vehicle.
Is it possible use the stroller during the hike?
No, it is not possible to use a stroller or any carrier with wheels. Etna family is an excursion that takes place on mountain paths not suitable for the use of strollers. For the transport of babies who are not yet able to walk, it is possible to use special backpacks for babies.

We are on the north-east side of mount Etna between the Alcantara Valley and the Nebrodi mountains, with an amazing view of the Ionian coast, 40 kilometers far from Taormina. If you are looking for some activities to discover the wonderful Alcantara gorges too, here is the Body Rafting or the Alcantara Quad Tour. But now let's describe the Etna Family Experience:
Easy and not challenging trail for those not used to taking long walks or for those with children. The first part will bring you to the middle of the immense eruptive fracture of 2002; This is a split in the ground opened after one of the bigger eruptions of the last 100 years. During the second stage of the trail, you will walk along a volcanic path that runs on the crest of the fracture until reach the craters. The climb is short and once on the top, the trail goes right on the edge of the craters. From the highest peak you will take a stunning panoramic view of the Ionian sea, something very beautiful that only nature can arouse. The third part of the Etna tour is a caving session during which you will walk inside a lava tube discovering some particular geological phenomena; the exploration will be made in full safety with helmets and torches provided by the guide.
This Etna hike it's a perfect choice for family with children want to experience a day in contact with nature. The duration of the walk is approximately 1h 30min.

Length: 3 km; Elevation gain +100 meters; Max elevation reached: 2000 meters.
🕒 How long does it last?
This experience lasts 3/4-hours and start in the morning, afternoon and based on the season at the sunset too. You can choose departure time during booking selecting the favorite one.

🥾 Recommended clothing
We recommend sportswear with closed sports shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, windproof jacket. In winter, mountain clothing appropriate to the season.

Not required skills. Kids have to be able to walk by yourself on a mountain track.

Really recommend this tour. It was a lovely walk, not too long so suitable for children. The guide, Salvo, was really knowledgeable and so friendly, he really increased the enjoyment of the trip. Such wonderful views would love to do it again!! One thing, make sure you have transport
