How to reach the starting point of this excursion by public transport from Agrigento
This excursion start from the Port of San Leone, you can reach it with public bus service from Agrigento. From the bus station in Piazzale Rosselli in Agrigento take the Bus Line 2/ direction Villaggio Mosè, San Leone; Get off to San Leone Porto Turistico, ask at the driver if you have any doubts. The bus stop is 150 meters far from starting point. The bus ride has a duration of 25 minutes, the cost of € 1.20 per ticket, runs approximately every 30 minutes.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No, you can join even if you don't know how to swim. During the swimming stops you can decide to relax on board the boat sunbathing, or you can use a flotation device available on board for free (life jacket or noodles) to enjoy a refreshing swim.

This is the south of Sicily where the sea is the background of inestimabile archaeological treasures. Visiting the Valley of Temples is a must for any traveler who decides to reach this part of Sicily, you can visit it with our Horse Ride at the Valley of Temples recommended by Lonely Planet magazine. Not only the valley but you will be able to visit the old town of Agrigento or the Unesco site of Piazza Armerina. In the next paragraphs we describe the itineraries of the boat trip to the Scala dei Turchi of 1h30min or 4h.
1h30min tour
The 1h30min trip begins with a briefing during which you will take safety information and some tips to face at the best the tour. Once on board, we sailing along the coast until reach the leading place of this excursion: the Scala dei Turchi. A unique heritage site of Sicily with many interesting naturalistic and geological matters: a rocky wall of white marl overwhelming beauty. Surrounded by a crystalline sea with a beautiful landscapes alla round you will feel the needs to jump on the sea.
3h30min tour
The 3h30min itinerary in addition to the Scala dei Turchi will take you to discover all the wonders of the Agrigento coast mades of coves, bays and beaches. Just after the departure we reach the mouth of the ancient river Akragas continuing toward the beach of Maddalusa and the bay of Chaos, places loved by famous novelist Luigi Pirandello. After Porto Empedocle we will reach the Scala dei Turchi. This is also the part of the coast with the most crystalline, clear and shining waters and where we will stop for a long break to enjoy dips and baths in this warm waters that move from the African continent to Sicily. Moving towards west we will reach Capo Rossello, the lighthouse, the bay of the Madonnina and the Rocca Gucciarda set of a famous Agregentina legend. Another stop is planned for a swim in shallow water, perfect for children. Before to get back, last stop in the Pietre Cadute area with a view of the small beach of Siculiana and Giallonardo where will toast with white wine or prosecco.

Boat tour to discover the Scala dei Turchi, one of the most fascinating natural wonders of Sicily. During this boat tour, you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful white marl cliffs that rise up from the Mediterranean and swim in a blue and crystalline waters.

This boat tour has a "Mid" sustainability level, in fact even if the emissions are equal to 2.86 kg of CO2 and water vapor in the atmosphere per participant for the 1h30min tour, and 5.95 kg per participant for the 3h30min tour, for this tour Low Emission closed circuit engines are used, therefore the emissions are slightly lower than average and there is no release of engine waste into the sea. For this tour, the engines are also equipped with a special filter called Micro Plastic Collector (see the gallery to see how it works), through which sea water is filtered and freed from microplastics. Every day, approximately 13k liters of water are filtered with a beneficial effect on marine fauna. During this tour, 5 to 10 kg of plastic is collected daily, which benefits for flora and fauna. This tour also does not harm coastal flora and fauna as it takes place in areas with deep seabeds without ever docking at natural piers.

Attività perfetta per essere al fresco
L'attività è stata perfetta in tutti i sensi. Innanzitutto il tour ti permette di ammirare alcune delle bontà di Agrigento dal mare. Poi, per queste giornate di caldo è perfetto per combatterlo. L'acqua è fresca e c'è sempre la brezza del mare. Infine, Salvo, la nostra guida è stata eccezionale nella guida e nel spiegarci tutto della costa di Agrigento. Lo consiglio a tutti!

We were the only English speaking guests and staff did the whole tour in Italian and repeated in English for us. Everyone was fun and friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.
