What are the pick-up and meeting points available?
Morning Tour: For the morning tour, hotel pick-up is available exclusively for guests staying in Catania, Taormina, Giardini Naxos, Francavilla, Castiglione and Linguaglossa, remind to leave your address during the booking. For those staying outside these areas, you can choose meeting point 3 during the booking (Look it on the Map).
Sunset Tour: The sunset tour does not include hotel pick-up but only pick-up at meeting points 1, 2 and 3 (Look them on the map). During booking, you can select the meeting point closer to you.
Private Tour: For the private tour, hotel pick-up is always included in the entire Etna area, remind to leave your full address during the booking.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Outdoor activities are always affected by weather conditions. Last-minute cancellations are possible. Cancellations by our organization always entitle you to a full refund of the deposit. To know the policy about bad weather visit the "Assistance" page, "Reservations" section.
What type of off-road vehicles are used?
The 4x4 vehicles used are of 2 types: 6-seater 4x4 off-road vehicles or 8-seater 4x4 vans. Both vehicles are equipped to face volcanic dirt roads. The choice of vehicle is made based on the number of people booked, to optimize consumption and emissions.
Can children participate?
Yes, children of all ages can participate in the Etna Jeep Tour. The 4x4 vehicles are equipped with child seats. During the short treks, parents with babies can also decide do not join to the walk and remain on board the vehicles. Who want to participate in the short trek with a baby, we recommend using a backpack suitable for carrying children (not included).
Does this tour reach the highest point of Etna?
No, this tour reaches a maximum altitude of 2000 meters and takes place on the tree line, so you can discover both aspects: the volcanological and naturalistic side of Etna. Pricing & Included stuffs
Morning Tour
Jeep tour includes pick-up from your accommodation or meeting point (You can view the map in the section "Faq" > "What are the pick-up and meeting points available?" to know cities covered by the pick-up service and the meeting points available for those who are in areas not served by pick-up). On board 4x4 vehicles we will cross some volcanic areas, and specifically the Mareneve road, included in a National Geographic publication as one of the dream driving itineraries, for its volcanic landscapes and panoramic views of the Ionian coast. Once we reach the first stop on the tour, we get off the 4x4 vehicles and continue on feet along a path into a birch forest. We will face a short steep track that will take us to the edge of some lateral craters to admire the spectacular conformation of a volcanic rift. From the highest points you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea and the bay of Taormina. Upon returning from the craters, we will get back on board the 4x4 vehicles to reach a volcanic cave, equipped with helmets and torches, we will cross the volcanic tube retracing the underground path of the incandescent lava, focusing on the particular geological phenomena that occur during its passage. Between the two stages, a stop is planned to an Etna refuge for a break.
Sunset tour
Since April to October the sunset session is available. The program of the sunset tour is the same as described for the daily tour with 2 variants: the sunset tour includes 2 short treks and takes place only and always on the south-west side of Etna to ensure an optimal view of the sunset. During the tour you will discover the famous Silvestri craters, enter in a lava tube and enjoy a magnificent sunset by walking to an old Etna refuge. This variant does not include hotel pick-up, you can participate only by reaching a meeting point in the center of Catania or in Zafferana, the meeting points are indicated in the "Faq" > "Starting from" section on this page.

🕒 How long does it last?
This experience lasts 4-hours and start in the morning and based on the season at the sunset too. You can choose departure time during booking selecting the favorite one.

🥾 Recommended clothing
We recommend sportswear with sports shoes (no flip-flops, slippers), sunscreen, sunglasses. In winter, clothing appropriate to the season with a windproof jacket.

The 4x4 vehicles are equipped with child seats. The child seat has no additional cost and is included in the child rate which goes from 0 to 8 years.
Activity features
The 4x4 tour will take you along volcanic trails to discover with your own eyes the geology, flora and fauna of the highest active volcano in Europe. During the tour you will enjoy a unique view of the sea and volcanic landscapes, walk along the edge of some craters and will go into a lava tube, to discover the hidden phenomena accurs into the lava.

For this tour, are estimated 3.4 kg of CO2 and water vapor emissions per participant. This tour is based on the concept of car sharing which limits the use of vehicles and consequently emissions. The tour could cause soil pollution due to the release of engine residues. The low noise of the engines does not cause noise pollution, and finally the tour does not damage at the flora as the off-road sections are on dedicated routes.

We really enjoyed the Jeep excursion with Francesco. He was also very attentive to our children. We really enjoyed everything we saw and learned. Francesco talked about, among other things, the different vegetation at different hight levels. We took a short walk, which was also very impressive and easy for the children.
