Etna Sunset Trail, ebike tour at the sunset with aperitif, a superlative trail along the Altomontana track.

The Etna volcano is located in the north-eastern part of Sicily and the western side, in particular, offers the most spectacular sunsets. This exclusive tour will take you to this side of the volcano, along a stretch of the Altomontana track along an unbeaten route, characterized by uncontaminated landscapes far from mass tourism. The experience is guided by expert professionals and includes the use of high-end full-suspension Enduro e-bikes, to ensure maximum comfort and safety.

First phase: Meeting and briefing

The tour begins at Rifugio Sapienza, where participants will meet the guide. After registration, e-bikes will be assigned, calibrated based on the weight and height of each participant. During the introductory briefing, all the information on the program, the characteristics of the route and the safety regulations will be provided.

Second phase: The Altomontana track

The itinerary runs along the Altomontana track, crossing spectacular lava fields and suggestive forest. Will stop at one of the Etna refuges, ideal for taking photographs and learning more, with the help of the guide, about the geology and endemic flora of the volcano.

Third phase: Exploration of a lava tube

Cycling on slightly uphill volcanic paths, will reach a lava tube. Here, a short speleology session is planned, during which will explore an authentic lava tube and learn about the geological phenomena that characterize lava flows.

Fourth phase: Short trek along the rift

After leaving the e-bikes, a short trek leads along the volcanic rift. Walking for a few hundred meters, you face an uphill stretch, at the end of which an extraordinary panorama opens up before your eyes, which extends to the extreme western borders of Sicily. The route continues on the edge of the rift surrounded by a landscape of great charm, whose beauty is accentuated by the twilight light of the sunset. It is not uncommon to spot birds of prey flying over the deep fractures below.

Fifth phase: Aperitif on the rift

Once we reach a safe position sheltered from the wind, it is time to enjoy the sunset and the "golden light". Immersed in a unique natural context, participants will taste an aperitif reinforced with a careful selection of typical Sicilian dishes, including cured meats, cheeses and Etna DOC wine.

Sixth Phase: Return at Twilight

Whit the last sunshine, will walk back to the ebikes. After mounted the lights on the handlebars, we face the return trail, riding along the same path we done to get here. The return to the Rifugio Sapienza takes place at dusk, with the charm of the night that envelops Etna.
