Can I reach the excursion location by public transport?
You can reach the meeting point of this excursion in Linguaglossa town by train or bus from Catania or other locations. You can view transport services of Ferrovia Circumetnea company.
Can kids join?
Yes, this excursion is also open to children as long as they are used to get mountain hikes.

Autumn foliage is a natural spectacle that turns forests and landscapes into palettes of warm colors. On Mount Etna, too, when autumn arrives, the scenery becomes even more magical and enchanting. The Etna Foliage hike experience was created to let you enjoy this amazing phenomenon while hiking along a path that allows you to observe and photograph it from three different point of views: from above, from within, and from outside the forest.
Foliage is the result of complex biochemical changes in the tree. As daylight hours shorten and temperatures drop, chlorophyll production slows down and eventually stops. This reveals carotenoids, responsible for yellow and orange hues, and anthocyanins, which create shades of red and purple. This kaleidoscope of colors will be the star of our adventure.
In the first part of the hike, we’ll enjoy a beautiful view from above and outside of a beech woods preparing for winter, walking through huge lava fields and craters belongings by different eras. Then we’ll enter into the forest to admire the play of light created as sunlight filters through the multicolored leaves. The hike go on up to the heart of the woods where will stop in a classic Etna refuge before to walking back crossing vulcanic and wooded areas. Based on timing and your energy reserve, we ascent some lateral craters for a breathtaking view of the sea.
Wine Tasting (Optional)
At the end of the tour, you can choose to join a wine tasting at a local Etna winery. The tasting program includes: a short visit to the vineyards, tasting of 2 white and 2 red wines, and a sample of Etna’s extra virgin olive oil served with bread or breadsticks. To join, simply select the “Hike + Wine Tasting” option when booking.

🥾 Recommended clothing
We recommend layered outdoor wear with hiking shoes, windbreaker, down jacket, gloves, neck warmer, sunglasses, and a 10-15 liter backpack.

We participated in the 6-hour hike on the slopes of Mount Etna, including a visit to a cave. The booking was very simple and at any time we were able to talk to each other to find out more about the day and its organisation. We were a family of 8 people from 11 to 50 years old, with 4 children, and everybody enjoyed the discovery, with a lot of different landscapes. Our guide was really great! Very attentive and keen to show us the beauty of the landscape. One of the highlights of our visit to Sicily.

Great experience with Salvo
Everything perfect! Very informative, caring and humild guide, Salvo. Happily exhausted after this tour- it takes really 5-6 hrs and one really need the recommended water. Would def recommend to friends. This tour without guide would not have been possible- at least not to the spots we saw. Worth the money.
