What are the pick-up and meeting points available?
Hotel pick-up is available only for those staying in Taormina or Giardini Naxos. For those staying outside these areas, you can reach the meeting point indicated on the map below. During the booking process, you can select hotel pickup filling up with address of your accommodation, or choose the meeting point.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Outdoor activities are always affected by weather conditions. Last-minute cancellations are possible. Cancellations by our organization always entitle you to a full refund of the deposit. To know the policy about bad weather visit the "Assistance" page, "Reservations" section.
What kind of vehicles are used for the transport?
For this excursion 8-seater vans are used.
Can children participate?
Yes, this excursion is also open to children as long as they are used to get mountain hikes.
Does this tour reach the highest point of Etna?
No, this tour reaches a maximum altitude of 2000 meters and takes place on the tree line, so you can discover both aspects: the volcanological and naturalistic side of Etna. Pricing & Included stuffs
The Etna Alcantara tour begins with a pick-up at your accommodation (take a look to the map in the section "Faq" > "What are the pick-up and meeting points available?), from here a 40-minute transfer will take us to the eastern side of Etna, where the tour will start:
Etna trek
Part of the morning will be dedicated to a short trek along lateral craters up an altitude of 2000 meters. Through a path between woods and lava flows, we will reach the edge of some volcanic cones, rising up to the peaks and surrounded by suggestive volcanic landscape, we will sight the beautiful coast of Sicily.
Lava tube exploration
A short caving session is the second stage of the tour, during which we will cross one of the most famous lava tube of Etna with helmets and torches, discovering some interesting geological phenomena.
Lunch time
The lunch break will be in Etna chalet located in the middle of a wonderful pine forest. Here you can choose between a menù of € 10 per person (includes bruschetta, first course and drinks), or a menù of € 7 (includes sandwich and drink). It's also possible to bring box lunch and eating it in the area outside the chalet.
Visit Alcantara gorge
The afternoon stage of the tour we will lead us towards the Alcantara river park to visit the beautiful lava canyon. We will reach the beach in front at the gorge through a stepsway. Here will be possible take sun on river bank or go inside the lava canyon using flip-flops or shoes suitable for rocky surface (reccomended).
Retunr
The return to accommodation is scheduled around 5:00 pm.

🥾 Recommended clothing
We recommend sportswear with closed sports shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, windproof jacket. For who want to enter into the canyon of Alcantara Gorges, we recommend bringing along rock shoes.

For this tour 2.7 kg of CO2 and water vapor emissions into the atmosphere per participant are estimated. This tour is based on the concept of car sharing which limits the use of vehicles and consequently emissions. The trek does not have any environmental impact, neither in terms of emissions nor on flora and fauna.
