What happens in case of bad weather?
Outdoor activities are always affected by weather conditions. Last-minute cancellations are possible. Cancellations by our organization always entitle you to a full refund of the deposit. To know the policy about bad weather visit the "Assistance" page, "Reservations" section.
Can I reach the excursion location by public transport?
Public transportation is limited, and it is not recommended to book unless you have your own vehicle or take a private transfer.
Can kids join?
This excursion is not suitable for kids under 14 years old. For the little ones, we recommend a Horse Riding course for children, available on the Courses page.

Pricing & Included stuffs
Alcantara horse ride of 1h30min with equestrian guide. We start from a small fluvial oasis near the village of Castiglione di Sicilia. Riding our horses, we rise up the river between little lakes dug into volcanic rock until we reach small gorges, from here the riding goes on to the famous Byzantine Cuba, a 7th century rural chapel. A path will lead us right into the river. The low water will allow us to ride inside it and againts the current, throught lush landscapes rich in vegetation and endemic species (riding into water may not be possible in the summer months due to the drought cause of the high temperatures of July and August). The duration of the horse excursion is 1 hour and 30 minutes and it's suitable for beginners or anyone who wants to try unconventional experiences.

Minimum booking required 2 people, maximum 6 people. This activity is not suitable for pregnant women and for people with respiratory or cardiac diseases. Minimum age 14 years old. Maximum weight 100 kg.
🕒 How long does it last?
This excursion lasts 1h30min and takes place in the morning, afternoon and based on the season at the sunset too. You can choose departure time during booking selecting the favorite one.

🥾 Recommended clothing
We recommend sportswear with sports shoes (no flip-flops, slippers), sunscreen, sunglasses. On winter, clothing appropriate to the season with windproof jacket.

Both English and American saddles are available for this excursion. The gait is on walk.

This horseback riding excursion has a "High" sustainability rating due to the low emissions. While horses do emit methane, approximately 18 kg per year, these emissions are negligible. The high level of sustainability is further supported by the absence of pollutants released into the soil and the complete lack of noise pollution. Although the excursion follows marked trails, it may cause minor disturbances to the riverine flora and fauna during water crossings.

Super relax immersi nella natura
L'esperienza in se è fantastica, la passeggiata dura poco più di un'ora in sella a cavalli docili e tranquilli, il percorso si sviluppa tra noccioleti frutteti e piccoli guadi di torrenti. Se dovessi trovare un punto negativo sarebbe sicuramente la Cuba bizantina, bisognerebbe aggiungere una fermata obbligatoria, magari organizzarsi con il comune per permettere la visione di questo luogo storico, fare un piccolo break sgranchire le gambe e ripartire, questo perchè spesso chi viene non è abituato a stare un'ora a cavallo e potrebbe facilmente accusare dolori.
L'accoglienza è stata fenomenale, sono tutti gentili e molto scherzosi, mettono a proprio agio anche chi per la prima volta va a cavallo.
Credo che appena possibile lo rifarò.

Relaxing walk in the beauty of valley
It was a nice and relaxing evening walk in the nature. Definitely recommend if you want to listen to sound of silence while enjoying the beauty of valley. Did it with my 14 year old daughter. She enjoyed it too.
