Can I reach the excursion location by public transport?
Public transportation is limited, and it is not recommended to book unless you have your own vehicle or take a private transfer.
What is the WWF oasis of Torre Salsa?
The Natural reserve of Torre Salsa is a WWF oasis located along the southern coast of Sicily, in the territory of Siculiana, near to the city of Agrigento. This area is one of the last uncontaminated coast line in Sicily, extends over 760 hectares, offering visitors an immersive experience in the wild beauty of Sicily. Access to some areas of the reserve, such as the beach, is regulated to protect the natural habitat of the sea turtles that nest here, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the beauty of the reserve without causing damage to this fragile environment.

Welcome to the WWF oasis of Torre Salsa, a natural reserve located along the splendid southern coast of Sicily. This horseback excursion is a unique experience along one of the last stretches of wild coast still intact. The route begins through some paths in the highest part of the reserve surrounded by a variety of unique flora and fauna. Going on into the path you will feel the salty breeze coming from the crystalline sea, until reach one of the most spectacular panoramic points of the reserve, which offers a breathtaking view, especially during the sunset. Imagine yourself on a cliff, feeling the sea breeze caress your face as you admire the enchanting landscape that stretches to the horizon. Even if it will not be possible to reach the beach, it's forbidden to go in to protect and preserve the habitat of a specy of turtles threatened by extinction, you will still be able to appreciate the beauty and charm of one of the most beautiful and rich in biodiversity marine reserves of Sicily. Getting back from the excursion, there will be a tasting of typical local products, prepared with love and passion by the local residents. You will be able to delight your mouth with authentic flavors of Sicily, enjoying delicacies that reflect the very essence of this wonderful region. This experience lasts 1h30min and start in the morning, afternoon and based on the season at the sunset too. You can choose departure time during booking selecting the favorite one.

This horseback excursion has a "High" level of sustainability thanks to the low emissions resulting from this activity. In fact, even if horses emit methane, about 18 kg per year, these emissions are irrelevant. The high level of sustainability is also given by the absence of pollutants released on the ground, the total lack of noise pollution and finally, in compliance with the indications of the WWF, this activity does not cause damage to either flora or fauna, taking place on marked path approved by environmental protection institutes.
